Denver Solar Panel Install and Repair

Solar Panels on Business Roof
I installed a 10MW system with Cascade. They were less expensive than the more well-known companies. They were very knowledgeable about solar and provided an optimal design with better quality panels than the competitors.

Colorado Requiring Solar for 2023

Colorado has always been at the forefront of green energy, and with the recent introduction of the electric ready and solar ready building code, it solidifies its stance even more. If you are a homeowner or a business owner in the Denver metro and wider Colorado area, here's what you need to know about this new legislation and how Cascade Solar & Electric can help you align with it.

Residential Buildings

  • Electric Ready: Homes should have dedicated circuits and receptacles/junction boxes within 3-6 feet of major gas appliances. Additionally, there must be reserved breaker space in electrical panels, and adequate service capacity for future electric replacements for gas space, water heating, drying, and cooking.

  • Solar Ready: Homes should have a 300 sq ft obstruction-free solar zone on the roof, with conduit routing and electrical panel capacity for future solar installations.

  • EV Ready: Every home should have at least one parking space equipped for EV charging, which includes wiring, capacity, and panel space considerations.

Commercial and Multifamily Buildings

  • Electric Ready: These buildings should have electric ready setups similar to residential spaces. However, larger commercial spaces only need reserved junction box locations near gas appliances.

  • Solar Ready: Commercial buildings need to have solar zones that cover 40% of the total roof area. This should include conduit routing and electrical panel capacity provisions.

  • EV Ready: There are set percentages based on total parking spaces that determine how many spots need to be EV ready. This includes considerations for wiring, capacity, and panel space.

Timelines

  • Multifamily EV ready rules will be in effect from March 2024.

  • Cities adopting state electric codes will have until June 2026 to fully comply with these guidelines.
